About ASA

What we do

ASA is a local charity and was founded in 1996. We provide an independent advocacy service for people in the city of Aberdeen. This means that we are not part of the NHS, Aberdeen City Council or any other service provider. Our service is free and confidential and all staff and volunteers work to The Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance’s (SIAA) Principles and Standards and Code of Practice.

Our Mission Statement

Advocacy Service Aberdeen seeks to provide a range of independent advocacy services for adults, children, and young people in Aberdeen, including those who may benefit from non-instructed advocacy. We aim to help them know and understand their rights, to express their views, to know what supports are available, what options they have, and to be more involved in decisions that affect their lives and to work towards their desired outcomes.
